A Brief Introduction to B.O.L.T. and B.O.L.T. of SC
B.O.L.T. stands for Bikers of Lesser Tolerance. B.O.L.T. was founded in Wisconsin in 1992 by Tony “Pan” Sanfelipo, National Director, as a "NO COMPROMISE" biker rights collective. We oppose discrimination against bikers and other motorcyclists. Known, primarily, for opposition to government-mandated motorcycle helmet laws, we lawfully fight discrimination on all fronts, including legislative buildings, courtrooms, and the streets.
In 1993, B.O.L.T. of Wisconsin was joined by B.O.L.T. of California. Today, there are chapters of B.O.L.T. located from coast to coast, throughout America, with the newest chapter established in Massachusetts in 2010.
In 2007, Pan, our national director, approved the formation of B.O.L.T. of North Carolina, B.O.L.T. of South Carolina, and a combined mutual support chapter, B.O.L.T. of the Carolinas. A motorcycle rights organization which has a lower tolerance for bad laws, bad governance, and bad law enforcement, stubbornly unwilling to NEGOTIATE rights away for temporary safety was desparately needed.
B.O.L.T. of NC has become strong in many ways, and faced many challenges head-on since 2007.
B.O.L.T. members and their supporters have learned everything from how to handle a police encounter and how to file internal affairs complaints, to how to fight helmet tickets in the North Carolina courts. We continue to maintain a vigil on the legislators, including city and county levels of government. We have drafted and proposed legislation and spoken both for and against legislation in NC that effects bikers. We have issued calls to action when appropriate. We have had freedom rallies and concurrent freedom rides throughout the state. We immediately made a very strong stand against motorcyclist only checkpoints in 2009, as soon as we had evidence that the Executive Branch was doing this without the backing of statutory law. We have stopped organizations from introducing bad legislation. Our strong alliance with bikers in South Carolina has found a large percent of our members involved in taking action against the city of Myrtle Beach all the way to the Supreme Court of South Carolina. We have written letters and made phone calls on behalf of bikers whose rights have been tramped on during roadside stops. Our close and constant ties with the rest of the B.O.L.T. Nation have allowed us to share learning about strategies that work in other states. We continue to build strong ties to all independent bikers and motorcycle clubs and motorcycle riding clubs who take a stand with us, and draw a line in the sand in defense of our rights as we say NO MORE! We maintain excellent relationships with some media publications, and are able to get the word to over 80,000 bikers, and potentially hundreds of thousands through national calls to action. We have developed state of the art information and communication systems which allow coast to coast conference calls, and our members are frequently interviewed by talk radio shows.
B.O.L.T. of NC members can be found across North Carolina, from the coast to mountains, and our supporters are found just about everywhere Americans are found.
A PLEA FOR ALL AMERICANS TO SUPPORT PERSONAL FREEDOMS AND LIBERTY
Despite all our efforts and many successes, we seem to be losing the more important battles for personal freedoms and liberty. The troops know that many of us are veterans. For the longest time, our greatest wish has been that when the troops eventually return home, they will return to a free country with more liberties and freedoms than when they left. Folks, just take a look around at all the checkpoints. We are losing! We cannot lose our liberty! We need the police state to lighten up on this harassment of Americans and seizure of our property and our persons. We need the government to end corruption within their chambers. Please do all you can to let those who govern know that a life without liberty is not the way life is supposed to be in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Learn to stand up for your rights lawfully/peacefully. Teach your children. If we can help you learn, there are those of us who promise to do our part.
IF WE CAN’T EVEN REPEAL A HELMET LAW OR REDUCE THE CHECKPOINTS, HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY THINK THERE WILL BE A RETURN TO PERSONAL FREEDOMS AND LIBERTY IN AMERICA?
DRAW YOUR LINE IN THE SAND AND SAY “NO MORE POLICE STATE!”
